How Together | Side by Side handles data with a minimal-collection approach, no cookies, and clear retention and deletion rules.

Overview

Together | side by side is committed to privacy by design. We collect the minimum data required to operate the site and respond to messages. We do not run advertising, we do not use tracking cookies, and we do not sell personal data.

Our approach is simple: no third-party analytics scripts, no marketing pixels, and no hidden tracking. If you voluntarily submit information through a form, we use it only for the purpose you intended.

What We Collect

Analytics

We use CloudFront access logs only. These logs may include:

  • IP address
  • Page visited (URL path)
  • Timestamp
  • Basic request metadata (for example, user agent)

We do not use external analytics services. We do not set analytics cookies. We do not attach cross-site identifiers.

Coalition form

If you choose to join the coalition directory, you may voluntarily submit:

  • Name
  • Credentials
  • Province
  • Practice area
  • A support statement

This information is collected only for the coalition directory and verification workflow.

Contact form

If you contact us through a form or email, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • Message content

We collect only what is necessary to respond to your request.

What We Do NOT Collect

Together | side by side does not collect or use:

  • Tracking cookies
  • Fingerprinting
  • Third-party scripts that track users
  • Social media trackers
  • Advertising pixels
  • Any personally identifiable information beyond what you voluntarily submit

We do not build user profiles. We do not attempt to link your visits across different sites or services.

Data Storage and Retention

CloudFront logs

  • Retention: 30 days
  • After retention: deleted

These logs are used for basic operational security and reliability (for example, detecting abuse patterns and diagnosing outages).

Coalition data

  • Stored in Supabase (hosted in Canada)
  • Retained as long as membership remains active
  • Deleted on request

Coalition data is not shared with third parties. It is used only to maintain the coalition directory and related operational communication.

Sharing

We do not sell data. We do not share personal data with third parties. If a legal request requires disclosure, we will comply with applicable law and limit disclosure to what is legally required.

PIPEDA Compliance

Together | side by side is designed to comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Users have the right to:

  • Access their personal data
  • Request corrections
  • Request deletion
  • Withdraw consent
